IBSS will provide Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), records management, and other administrative support to NOAA Fisheries West Coast Region (WCR) Operations, Management, and Information (OMI) Division under a new ProTech award. Our legal experts will help OMI address requests for federal agency records not already in the public domain and pertaining to NOAA Fisheries actions along the US West Coast, excluding those protected from public disclosure by one of nine FOIA exemptions or special law enforcement exclusions. Our work contributes directly to NOAA’s accountability, transparency, and the workable balance between the right of the public to know and the need of the government to protect certain information.
