Silver Spring, MD, August 2019: IBSS was awarded a 2 year Task Order with the National Weather Service (NWS) to migrate 3 mission-critical operational weather systems into the redundant 24x7x365 virtualized, private cloud infrastructure under the Integrated Dissemination Program Application Onboarding (IDPAO) contract. These systems are critical to hydrological prediction, emergency management,  and communication collaboration around severe weather events.

We partnered with RedLine Performance Solutions due to their expertise in high-performance computing to optimize, configure, maintain, and upkeep virtualized environments on the IDP infrastructure.

The IBSS/RedLine team will transition 3 mission critical applications: NWSChatAdvanced Hydrologic Prediction Services (AHPS), and Common Alert Protocol (CAP) Handler. With NWSChat, NWS Forecast Offices can internally collaborate to share critical warning decision expertise essential to save lives and property. AHPS allows government agencies, private institutions, and individuals to make informed decisions about risk based policies and actions to mitigate flood and drought dangers. CAP ingests and delivers weather-related and non-weather emergency messages to and from FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS).

Through these services, IBSS will help NWS provide weather, hydrologic, and climate forecasts and warnings for the U.S, its territories, adjacent waters and ocean to protect life and property and enhance the national economy.

As a trusted NOAA partner since 1992, IBSS looks forward to continuing our ongoing service in advancing their mission with our partnership with RedLine Performance Solutions.
