Since its inception, CBIBS has become a necessary data source for NOAA partners, as well as the public. The data is accessed by approximately 20,000 users via multiple data delivery platforms. As more users come to rely on the data, its availability becomes increasingly important. To meet the higher availability requirement, IBSS will support replication of the system to a new backup installation in Seattle, WA. The main system components include the Shoreside Server (running AXYS DMS on Microsoft SQL) for buoy data acquisition, a LINUS-based Web/Application server to process raw data, and a MYSQL Database Server to hold processed data.
IBSS wins award to provide support to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Chesapeake Bay Office’s (NCBO). The project involves replication of the SQL server system for the Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System (CBIBS) to Seattle, WA to meet the higher availability requirements.
