The NOAA OCIO Network Operations Center (NOC) required connectivity support across 130 HQ, field, and remote locations. Over four recompete contracts, IBSS transitioned hardware, connectivity, and infrastructure for 40,000 users nationwide. We maintained maximum security, continuous availability, and optimal performance for NOAA’s MAN, LAN, and WAN connections. IBSS successfully supported the Agency’s core communication infrastructure by:

  • Overseeing core infrastructure – 200 switches, 160 routers, 30 firewalls, and 60 servers
  • Redesigning the WAN, for improved service delivery and 99.99% availability – even in upgrades and refreshes
  • Deploying security stack components for six trusted internet connection locations across the US
  • Improving detective and preventative cybersecurity for NOAA’s IT components and petabytes of collected data
  • Designing high throughput content delivery network, considered a FISMA high system, across five data centers

IBSS supported 25,000 users, 400 remote network devices, and over a terabyte of daily data transfer. We received two Excellence Awards from the NOAA CIO for our two-factor remote access solution and multi-protocol label switching network. In our final CPARS evaluation for the NOC, IBSS received an EXCEPTIONAL rating in Quality, Schedule, Cost Control, Management, and Regulatory Compliance.

IBSS provided excellent resources to manage responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closure of the NOC project.
